Purpose of the catalogue
The BUQBI Public Domain Literature Library aims to provide readers with a thoughtfully curated selection of public-domain texts, accompanied by original editorial material that enhances understanding and appreciation. The catalogue is not a comprehensive archive but a focused collection chosen for its thematic coherence and historical value.
Scope and selection
Ninety works have been selected from Project Gutenberg, all originally published between the early nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. The selection emphasises military, naval, and strategic affairs, reflecting an editorial interest in the literature of conflict and power. Only works with clear public-domain status are included.
Source attribution
All texts originate from Project Gutenberg, whose editions are based on publicly available sources. The BUQBI catalogue does not host or modify the underlying texts but provides links to them. Attribution is given in each book record. No claim of copyright ownership is made.
Bibliographic records
Each record contains the title, author(s), publisher, subject keywords, a target-reader note, and a catalogue summary written by the editor. The summaries are original and intended to give a sense of the work’s content and style, not to replace the full text. They are not peer-reviewed.
Category assignment
Works are grouped into four categories as a navigational aid. Categories are broad and sometimes overlapping; they do not represent definitive literary judgments. A single work may have resonances with multiple categories, but only one assignment is given for simplicity.
Editorial reading context
